Isn’t it crazy how a lot of things in life fall on you? The job you pick, the friends you have, the life you lead. We’re forced to make decisions about our lives every single day. Of course other people play a huge role in the things that happen to us, but the way we react to things are completely up to us. How we see ourselves and who we surround ourselves with is very important.
I’ve worked really hard on trying to reduce the negative thoughts I often have of myself. But, trust me… it’s an ongoing project. We are our biggest critic. Some of the outlandish things we think of ourselves… other people would never even consider saying to us. So why are we so hard on ourselves? Why don’t we treat ourselves with more respect? And why do we often surround ourselves with people who can be just as harsh?
Hearing someone talk down to themselves is a hard thing to encounter. Part of you wants to shake them because you don’t see them in that negative light and the other part of you wants to give them a hug. And yet, we wouldn’t do that for ourselves. When are we going to start treating ourselves the way we’d treat our friends? It’s time that we start giving ourselves the same love and respect that we so easily can give to others.
Even the most outwardly confident people have negative thoughts. But why do people act like everything is perfect? Clearly self-confidence is something tons of people struggle with. It doesn’t matter how many selfies we take, or how many friends follow us. If you have problems with yourself, none of that matters. It doesn’t matter how many people think you’re cool or gorgeous if you can’t believe that when you look in the mirror.
You can be your biggest savior, or your worst enemy.

All so true Stephanie. We really are our own worse critic and yes I think many people are in denial about their inner critic. It really pays to learn more about how we are operating on the inside to improve ourselves and the world in general. Thanks for sharing.
