The body is truly an interesting thing. It’s able to sustain so much stress, endure pain and still carry you through your toughest points. It also can tell you things if you’re willing to listen.
Recently, I’ve been experiencing what feel like wakeup calls to the types of environments I place myself in. When I’m somewhere I find joy, like with family and friends or yoga I feel at my best. When I’m in places that operate like everything is a fire, my body goes into panic. I use to think that I thrived in the crazy. In the fast pace where you don’t have time to stop and think about what’s next. What I’ve realized, is that I prefer to be somewhere that allows me to breathe. Learn. GROW. Being in a blurring speed actually feeds into my anxiety.
I’m realizing that it’s very possible to put yourself in environments that are innately harder to be in just for the thrill. Anxiety can get a kick out of it. But at what cost?
Sometimes your body responds to decisions you make like it’s telling you “No.” Maybe it’s in the form of not being able to sleep or eat. Maybe it’s as extreme as chest pain. It truly can run the gamut.
Listening to yourself can be hard when you don’t know which way to go, but what do you do when your body straight up yells at you?
Well, I guess you’re forced to listen. Try out different things and find the path that makes sense. I’m not sure if anyone totally knows what they want to do when they grow up. We are also constantly growing and changing.
Intuition, believing in yourself and knowing that things will work out are strong tools that we have. They’re just as strong as our bodies that sustain the magnitude of the stress we put on them. We’re more powerful than we give ourselves credit for.
